Mar 20, 2003 · On the barrel it is marked Ranger 103.13. A crossreference under Sears shows this to be a Marlin 81. It appears rather old, it is a tube feed bolt action, plastic trigger gaurd. I've been thinking that for almost a decade. 81/81E - 1937-1940 81C/81DL - 1940-1970/ 1940-1965, Micro-groove barrel added in the early 60s. 781 - 1970, time to change the numbers!! Added a 7 to the 81 series. 881 - 1988, time to change the numbers again!!

Mar 20, 2008 · My 81 DL from the 40s has the stamped steel marlin peep sight, with the barrel sight dovetail blanked. Its shoots s,l,lr and HV with great accuracy. The trigger is easy to tune too. It still wears the Weaver B-4 and Weaver mount I had put on it in 1963.

Jun 25, 2004 · I've got a 81 DL in excellent condition. it came with a peep site. Real substantial piece of wood. I put a scope on it by adapting the screw holes for the peep to hold a home-made aluminum scope platform. It isn't the most robust arrangement, but it works and the rifle is very accurate. Casual quarter-sized groups at 50y with a D-6 Weaver scope.

Apr 10, 2019 · Decock the striker unscrew the little screw. Pull the striker and hammer spring and hammer rod. (Not sure at the moment actual names). Push the pin out left to right. Pull the front half from rear half. The extracor is a clip on and must be removed to pull the firing pin. Some of the newer bolts on a Marlin you can rotate the head and separate.
