The SW1 was one of Mamod's first range of models to be modified with the water level window (in this case discretely hidden at the back of the boiler) and fired with solid fuel tablets. It is often advertised as a Foden style wagon.

It is patterned after the original “pickup truck” vehicle sometimes called the Foden Wagon, and its unique rear wheels are accurately reproduced in miniature.

The Steam Wagon is regarded by many (including myself) to be Mamod's finest mobile steam engine. Largely attributed to Steve Malins for its creation, the engine is a very well made and enjoyable 'lump' to own.
