Sep 21, 2010 · Work on replacing the transom had been started by the previous owner, so it went right in the garage. The outer transom skin had been cut leaving a 3" lip around the sides and bottom. In Jan '08, I purchased a Harbor Freight engine stand and mounted on it the old Merc that came with the boat.

Jun 21, 2014 · It's going to be tough to get a 17' boat and a car in a 19' garage, even with a folding tongue on the trailer. Remember that a 17' boat has an outboard sticking out almost 2 feet beyond that.

Sep 1, 2016 · A 17' boat is going to be about 18-24" longer at the stern from the motor, when tilted, and there is usually another 2-3' in front of the bow for the trailer. There are swing tongue trailers, but that only saves you abut two feet.

May 24, 2014 · Btw, I'll add...I'm looking for a Mako in the 17 foot range because I'd like a easy to trailer and "garage-able" boat. I know the 19s and 20s offer a bit more but I think the 17 is the best of a great boat and good size.
