The buildings are 15mm (1/100th) scale and optimised for use with Crossfire. The roofs are removable so you can put figures inside.

There are several methods for building 15mm stone walls, but the wall to the right was made by gluing a narrow stick of balsa wood on top of a wider base. Coat the narrow balsa strip with glue, then sprinkle finely crushed gravel over the glue.

If you're not talking pines, just head out into the woods with a pair of clippers. Find suitable branches (bushes will be your best bet) and trim. Base in sculpy or clay.
