Sep 27, 2017 · In continuation of our research into the volatile constituents of Nigerian medicinal plants and herbs [1, 2, 3], we report the compounds identified in the essential oil of Macaranga barteri Mull. Arg. (Euphorbiaceae). M. barteri is a shrub or tree that grows up to 20 m high.

Macaranga barteri is a plant used in traditional medicine to treat many illnesses. Previous studies showed the efficacy of the aqueous extract of leaf of this plant (AEMb) in the treatment of gastric ulcer within the dose range of 125–500 mg/kg body weight (b.w.).
