The Adder is a light Clan OmniMech. Designed as a light combat 'Mech rather than a scout, almost half of the Adder's weight is dedicated to weapons.

Low top speed for a light mech: when competing against mechs like the Firestarter who have comparable firepower (albeit at a shorter range) that go almost half again as fast, it’s hard to pick the Adder. Plus, since a traditionally huge asset of light mech survivability is speed, the Adder starts at a significant disadvantage.

Jul 5, 2019 · Instead of focusing on mobility like most light mechs do, the Adder invests its tonnage into firepower, making it similar to the Kitfox and Cougar. The Adder cannot mount jumpjets, which makes it a large, predictable target that is easy to kill.

Mar 10, 2022 · Adder was my fav mech back in the MW3 days running around lag firing PPCs in multiplayer. It was my first mech in MWO and tons of fun in lower tiers, but in higher tiers it feels a light mech that plays like a more mobile assault.

Feb 25, 2015 · The Adder is a great mech and undeserving of its bad reputation. It's slow for a light, but its armour and firepower make up for that, making it (with the right build) lethal to other lights. I will quite happily go up against two of any light on my own.

Sep 14, 2014 · Not-so-angry adder version for those who prefer long range fire support. The ER large lasers are high mounted for shooting over hills and the LRM5s let you fire indirectly as well as being a lower heat option.

The ADR-D mimics the Kit Fox Prime, with an Ultra AC 5 in the right arm and an ER Large Laser in the left. It uses the extra capacity it gains from being 5 tons heavier to add two Streak SRM launchers. As an OmniMech, it can use OmniPods from other Adder variants for additional hardpoint variations.
