Driving M: We see a girl, with an inner tube shaped like a seahorse, on a diving board. She jumps off, and her inner tube screams right at the screen. She falls into a pool shaped like the MTV logo, and cracks appear that form "TV". Art History: The ident kind of speaks for itself.

Legacy: This is a favorite of many, as it was the very first ident shown on MTV. Visuals: In a black and white room, a television set with the MTV logo in it zooms out from the screen a few times to the music; each time it stops, a cartoon explosion effect occurs.

Dec 14, 2021 · This very ID, or “ident”, featuring MTV’s own theme song composed by Elias Arts, LLC, is constructed from moon landing footage and features a psychedelic (and typically 80s) MTV logo set over the American flag.

Unlike most television networks at that time, MTV's logo was constantly branded with different colors, patterns and images on a variety of station IDs. In 1994, the logo and text were slightly redrawn. Since 2008 on the premiere of FNMTV, the network had shown a chopped down version of its logo during most of its on-air programming.

This Ident launched in early 2017 as a part of MTV International’s artist ident series. MTV’s goal was to create content that encouraged the visual experimentation they’ve always been known for.
