Of the original "web-safe" (that is, as close to universal as you'll get on the Web) sans-serifs (Arial, Impact, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS, Verdana), Verdana tends to get the most love. It's well-designed and is designed to be readable on the screen.

May 27, 2014 · Just add a .ttf file of Trebuchet MS to the site and add it to the code or something. Computers will download the font and display it correctly. I use Trebuchet MS too and I'm always annoyed with Linux having no Microsoft/Proprietay fonts by default. So, have a look through the sans serif fonts on the list: Arial, Lucida sans, Franklin Gothic, Segoe UI, MS Sans Serif, Calibri, etc. Choose one you like. It's pretty hard to know what you would like or what you think would be "better".

Oct 1, 2020 · Wingdings and Windings 2 both have white/black circled digits in sans-serif style but they do not offer standalone digits. In Cambria Math, I can produce all three variants but this is a serif font. If there is no such standard Microsoft font, using the digits of Wingdings would be an acceptable workaround if these are available in another font.

Fun fact - the code button you used to highlight the "W" and "i" in your question switches to a monospaced font... so the W and i right there in your question are in a font that is making them have the same width :) Look at the CSS for it using inspect element in your browser and in 'font-family' you get a big long list of monospaced fonts: Droid Sans Mono',Consolas,Menlo,Monaco,Lucida Console ...

Nov 24, 2017 · Must be sans serif, preferably resembling Arial/Helvetica. Must have excellent distinguishability of similar letters like I/l. It should be obvious what letter a glyph represents, even if it stands alone with no context. Should be free as in beer, or very commonly available (e.g. comes with MS Office).
