In the case of the MP5 and M4, which one is better for tactical operations? There are many variants of both weapons out there but, to keep it simple, I’ll go with what I know. As mentioned previously, my MP5 is a 9mm with retractable stock.

Mar 29, 2002 · The sound-suppression issue aside, since it is a rather specialized use of weaponry, I don't see any reason the MP5 would be better than an M4, assuming the latter is reliable. The M4 is clearly the better general-purpose weapon, having better range, power, ergonomics, and accuracy than the MP5.

Apr 2, 2022 · Both that MP5 and an M4 can be upgraded without problem. The downside with the MP5 is lower mag capacity. An M4 made of polymer (plastic) is not necessarily more likely to break than one made of metal. Good polymer is better than bad metal.

MP5 is really nice, compact platform and mags are slim. But shimming MP5 really sucks, so MP5 if one runs it stock or someone else does teching and M4 if one must do teching by themselves.

Aug 22, 2018 · The MP5 was effectively phased out of service by the M4 and mk18 cqb receiver. Kevlar is cheap and 5.56 will go right through it. 9mm will not. 5.56 has way more energy and is far better for the modern battlefield.

Apr 14, 2000 · My favorites are the M4 and the MP5 for several reasons. Both are very flexible (optics, lights, special purpose launchers, etc). There are also several major differences between these 2 systems, caliber and size being the main ones.

The MP5, firing 9x19mm Parabellum cartridges, falls short in terms of performance compared to the M4. It has a shorter effective firing range of only 200m, limiting its capabilities in engaging targets at longer distances.
