The Heckler & Koch MP5 (German: Maschinenpistole 5, lit. 'Submachine gun 5') is a submachine gun developed in the 1960s by German firearms manufacturer Heckler & Koch.

Heckler & Koch MP5. The MP5/10 and MP5/40 are variants of the MP5 chambered in 10x25mm Auto and .40 Smith & Wesson respectively. They were produced in the 1990's and featured some subtle differences from the MP5 design.

The MP5 is primarily aimed at police units and first response forces engaging area targets. Easy to handle, easy to control and uncompromisingly precise in an emergency. The MP5 SD, on the other hand, fulfils the weaponry requirements of specialised forces and selected special units.
