MP SD40-2 3131 - was built as Texas & Pacific 832 in January 1974. The TP renumbered the unit to TP 3131 at merger time with the Missouri Pacific. When the MoPac aquired control of the T&P, it was renumbered MP 3131. It later became UP 4131.

The EMD SD40-2 is a 3,000-horsepower (2,200 kW) C-C diesel–electric locomotive built by EMD from 1972 to 1989. The SD40-2 was introduced in January 1972 as part of EMD's Dash 2 series, competing against the GE U30C.

3909, Class SD40-2, was built in September 1976, #766005-5, FN 766005-5, as MP 3225. It was renumbered 6009 in May 1978 and became UP 3909 on June 6, 1986. It was retired on January 30, 2002.

Wheeling & Lake Erie SD40-2 - was built as MoPac SD40 #725. It was later renumbered to MP 3025, and then became UP 4025. It was later sold to WC/Oxford and became a permanent road unit on the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway.
