Sprout is a male Earth pony and supporting character in My Little Pony Generation 5, first appearing as the antagonist of the film My Little Pony: A New Generation. He is the former deputy sheriff of Maretime Bay and son of Phyllis Cloverleaf.

And Sprout is the perfect representation of the insecure pathetic slimy git, who's desperately trying to prevent society from changing. The most clever thing about Sprout is that not only did he put on an entertaining performance, he kept it just simple enough for kids to understand.
