Jun 5, 2010 · just logged in after years and years- passed w flying colors. Used MKSAP questions and the books as an afterthought. In real practice- basically my knowledge comes from high yield CMEs from Harvard etc and clinical journals. I dont look for esoteric stuff anymore in MKSAP etc.

Jul 5, 2008 · I think the MKSAP is harder than the actual test. If someone is getting 70% on MKSAP they should easily pass the ABIM. I don't know what would be a "safe" %age to be getting correct on MKSAP. 60% correct you'd probably be fairly safe. I didn't use MKSAP that much...used Medstudy and one of their question CD's too.

Jan 17, 2005 · I felt like the questions and topics reviewed on the MKSAP were very similar to the types of questions asked about in the boards and on the inservice exams. The main problem is that the MKSAP is a hefty collection of books and IMO it is too advanced for an intern. As an intern you also won't have much time to study the MKSAP (10 books in all).

I am planning to sit for the exam this year 2022, and was wondering, do I need to order new edition books for MedStudy for the exam this year. I am honestly thinking about there video review series.

Dec 8, 2018 · The questions are completely different every version. A 3 year old MKSAP isn't THAT out of date - though some things like HTN guidelines seem to change every couple months. The problem is that if an *intern* gets MKSAP 18 now, by the time they take boards in 3 years, it will be a 5 year old question set - probably written 1-2 years prior to that.

This consists of one book, filled with a whole bunch of questions designed to help medical students with their IM rotation, and a lot of people use it to study for the shelf. Currently, this series is in it's third edition, and the book to buy is MKSAP For Students 3.
