The MG Y-Type is an automobile produced by MG in England from 1947 to 1953. It was offered in four-door saloon and limited production open four-seat tourer versions. When production ceased, 8,336 "Y" Types had been produced, 6,131 of which were "YA" saloons, 904 were "YT" Tourers and 1,301 were "YB" saloons.

The MG Y type or one and a quarter litre saloon as it was sometimes known was really an MG version of the Morris Eight series E four door saloon and was a pre-war project that Syd Enever and Cowley suspension designer Alec Issigonis had been working on in 1937.

The Y (its first series was retrospectively called the YA) used the MG XPAG engine, independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. A total of 6158 YAs were built, 1301 YBs (from 1951) and 877 YT four-seater convertibles.
