HORT 281 :: Lecture 06 - eagri.org
It is an F1 Hybrid between Prabhani Kranti and MDU 1 and has a yield potential of 16-18 tones/ha. It is moderately resistant to yellow vein mosaic. Suitable for growing during kharif as well as summer.
Hybrid seed production technique of Okra - Krishisewa
Jul 25, 2017 · भिण्डी की फसल में संकर बीज का उत्पादन करने की विधि।. Okra commonly known as ‘bhendi’ or lady’s finger is native of tropical Africa, Okra is widely cultivated in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat are important okra producing states of India.
Okra: Origin, Inheritance and Varieties | India - Biology Discussion
MDU 1: It was evolved by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore in 1978. It is an induced mutant, isolated from ‘Pusa Sawani’. On an average, there are 13 nodes/plants. Stem is green with light purple pigmentation. Fruiting begins from 4-5th node. It takes 33 days to first flowering and 43 days to first picking.
Six basic sets of generations namely P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 were derived from two crosses involving four contrasting genotypes of okra. Two crosses involving four genetically diverse parents viz., MDU-1, VRO 4, TCR 1173 and TCR 2056 were crossed in September, 2016 by hand emasculation and pollination.
Mechanism of Hybrid Development and Quality Seed Production in Okra
Mar 1, 2025 · In okra, mutation breeding is being used to generate novel desirable variability, through gamma irradiation. Two cultivars, namely, MDU-1 and Parbhani Tillu, were developed whereas EMS treatment was done to evolve Punjab-8 …
Accelerated Breeding in Okra - SpringerLink
Sep 4, 2020 · Early flowering, double haploids, early multilocation trials and marker-assisted selection help in speeding up of the conventional breeding in okra, while nonconventional methods like mutation breeding and genetic engineering result in the development of varieties within shorter period of time.
Standard heterosis upto a value of 65.23 per cent recorded by MDU 1 x Hissar Unnath. This hybrid recorded high standard heterosis for all the characters except number of branches per plant and...
Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench] belonging to the family Malvaceae is an important vegetable crop in India. The major problem in okra cultivation is lack of high yielding varieties along with location specific pest and disease tolerant hybrids. Of the various approaches to overcome this problem,
The genetic of heterosis in okra were elucidated in this study. The parent genotypes Punjab Padmini was found as good general combiner followed by Parbhani Kranti and Arka Anamika. Based on overall specific combining ability, the cross combinations viz., Parbhani Kranti × Punjab Padmini, MDU 1 × Mohanur Local and Arka Anamika
Exploitation of heterosis for yield and yield attributes in okra ...
Eight parental lines of okra and their 28 F 1 hybrids obtained from half diallel were studied to investigate the extent of heterosis for yield and yield attributing characters. The magnitude of heterosis varied from cross to cross for all the characters studied.
