The Elusive WD M8A1 Scabbard - EDGED WEAPONS - U.S.
Dec 31, 2015 · In searching for Makers and contracts for US military bayonets, I have found all of the makers (to my knowledge) except the maker of the US M8A1 scabbard marked WD. The photo above illustrates 4 that I currently have in my reference collection. 1. Marked VIZ / WD. It is thought that WD may have p...

Jun 15, 2016 · Two early Victory Plastics M8A1 scabbards I have two VP. Co. M8A1 scabbards one of which is different from what I have encountered before. Both are early in that they do not have the metal tip protector. The one on the left is the earlier of the two and has a VP number of /1 and the other one is /5.
M8 vs M8A1 clarification help needed - U.S. Militaria Forum
Sep 14, 2013 · The M8A1 was introduced in 1944 and replaced the M8. The difference was that the M8A1 had the hanger extended slightly and the double hook attachment added so the scabbard could be used on the standard cartridge and pistol belts. The continued to be marked M8 for some time after adoption, so you have to go by the hanger.
NOS US VIZ M8A1 scabbards dated 1963 - US MILITARIA FORUM
Aug 21, 2020 · All bought on the internet prior to USRO stopping all bayonet sales. Best deal I ever got was 35 M8A1 scabbards for $5 each with free shipping. They were advertised as issued fair-to-good condition, but were all like new unissued. I also got lots of M8A1 scabbards when they ran internet specials on M7 bayonets with scabbards.
M3 with M8A1 scabbard - EDGED WEAPONS - U.S. Militaria Forum
Aug 16, 2018 · Personally, I don't get wrapped around the axle on M8,or M8A1 scabbards. About half of all those that I own are M8s w/ the M1910 belt hooks, others are early short loops, while the rest are late M8A1s w/ metal tips. Have actually had a mint Camillus M3, repacked in 1962 that came in wrapper with the late M8A1 metal tipped scabbard.
Date M8A1 scabbard - EDGED WEAPONS - U.S. Militaria Forum
Oct 22, 2018 · B.M. CO. marked M8A1 were only produced during WW2, also true for the M8 marked sheaths. In the spring of 1944 the scabbards were transitioning from M8 to M8A1, though some that met the new M8A1 profile still had the U.S. M8 marked throat. Might be hard to say for sure when they ran through the last of the M8 metal plates.

Post 60s M8A1 scabbards (the learning never stops)
Jul 28, 2014 · The Large PWH scabbards (not in my picture) were another story. All but one of the large PWH scabbards observed, did not have the cover. I guess it would be safe to say MOST, but not all of the large PWH scabbards lack this fringe cover. Conclusion: IF your M8A1 scabbard does not have a fringe cover, it is likely post 1969.

Sep 23, 2013 · The M8A1 was the same scabbard but with a double hook added. I'd been wondering ever since I read his first post this morning, if that was what it was. If it's an M8 or M8A1 it'll be written/inscribed on the front of the metal throat, which a …
Chinese repro TWB M8A1 Scabbards - U.S. Militaria Forum
Aug 27, 2020 · Of particular note, unlike earlier Chinese M8A1 copies, these have actual fiber glass scabbard bodies that are pretty hard to distinguish from an original (earlier copies used injection molded plastic bodies which are very easy to tell apart). All I have seen to date are TWB (The Working Blind) marked on the throat.
