How to date an M7 Bayonet and M8A1 Scabbard - US MILITARIA …
Jan 8, 2012 · First of all I am not an expert, and every time I think I am, I regret it. That said, there isn't a real reliable way to date M7 bayonets, however, if you want to be sure that your bayonet is a Viet Nam era bayonet, then get a Milpar marked M7. According to Gary Cunningham's book (you should get one), Milpar provided M7 bayonets from 1964 to 1967.

Aug 21, 2021 · If you want a Vietnam era M7 bayonet, here are some good examples. Milpar.: Milpar had the first contract to make M7 bayonets. The earlier Colt marked M7s were included with the rifles, so there was not a specific contract for the bayonet itself. The Milpar M7 will have a 90 degree back cut, but it can be a "near 90" back cut. SEE PHOTO BELOW.
M7 bayonet FZR. Is it Frazer Frazier or Fraser?
Nov 7, 2023 · Vehicle machine gun mounts were Fraser’s primary stock-in-trade as a government contractor. Bayonets were a one-off. I suspect that the government went to the (then) current M7 bayonet prime contractor, Bauer Ordnance Corp., for additional M7 bayonets and Bauer didn’t want to take on such a small job.

Conetta M7 bayonet real or made up? - U.S. Militaria Forum
Sep 25, 2016 · I have received a M7 bayonet, my first made by Conetta and it has some features not seen on my other 60's M7 bayonets. The side of the cross piece has two areas where it looks like it was removed from a sprue. Also is the peening on top of pommel correct for Conetta? The "o" in Conetta does not seem to be closed. Is this an issue?
Milpar Colt M7 - EDGED WEAPONS - U.S. Militaria Forum
Aug 21, 2018 · Gary Cunningham consulted with William Humes when writing about the M7 bayonet. In Gary’s book, the photo he used to show the blade of the Imperial/Colt M7, is exactly the same photo shown for the Mil[par/Colt M7; right down to the small pits in the blade. I had wondered if Bill Humes may have made a mistake by showing two of the same bayonet.
M7 Colt bayonet question... - US MILITARIA FORUM
Sep 20, 2010 · The M7 bayonet is not my strong point. My real interest in bayonets is the early ones, and actually pretty much ends with the Korean War. What I have read about the Imperial M7 bayonet being discussed in this thread has been confusing and contradictory. I have no solid information that I can pass on as fact.

Feb 19, 2023 · Of all the unexpected things, an eBay listing helped me identify an unknown (at least to me) Lan Cay, Inc. M7 Bayonet-related contract. As Frank Trzaska and William Humes first reported ca. 2000, Lan Cay, Inc. was awarded small contracts for both the M7 Bayonet and a M10 Scabbard in 1998.
