Dec 11, 2012 · Many months ago, I read an online account of a British tank crew in NWE who test-fired 75mm howitzer M66 HEAT ammo successfully in a Sherman. This might have some interesting implications, since the M66 round in question reportedly had better penetration (91mm or something like that) than standard M3 75mm gun AP.

Sep 18, 2005 · I guess that special ammo would be the M66 HEAT round and the M64 chemical round (smoke, white phosphorus, gas). Other than that it carried the standard M48 HE, M61 AP, and M89 smoke. The M4, A2, A3, A4 all could carry 97 main gun rounds.
