May 16, 2023 · This problem is detected on software that uses the built-in Windows 11 22H2 codecs (on earlier versions, the problem is not observed), Windows Media Player, RekordBox, Serato DJ Pro, etc. On players that use their own codecs (VLC, iTunes, JetAudio HD, etc.) there is no problem. When converting m4a to mp3, there are no problems.

I do not know how to check whether this is Windows Media Player 12. ===== Open Media Player and go to...Help / About...to find version number. Media Player 12 should play MPEG 4 files but if not... you could try downloading and installing a codec pack.

When I try to play one of the songs in Windows Media Player, I get the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

Oct 15, 2012 · Some how, the Windows Media Player has the songs in m4a format and when I open the Public Music Folder by pressing the Windows Start Button it has the WAV format. Some of the music is not complete albums but 1 or more songs. Windows Media Player can find the Album Information for the m4a versions but not the WAV versions.
