Oct 29, 2018 · The M43 shovel was made by three different makers. AF&H 1943. WOOD 1943. AMES 1943. The first M43 shovels 1943 dated are little harder to find but aren't super rare here in the States.

Jul 3, 2011 · It's a First pattern M43 Shovel cover, however, there are no US markings and it's also completely tan. Material feels like the same stuff they make USMC canteens from. Never come across another like it.

Oct 23, 2016 · I have a mint unissued example also 1944 dated with the non adjustable hanger there was lots of things going on in 1944 ! they were also still making the m1910 shovel covers as well.

Jul 14, 2008 · i know a dealer who's got over 400 M56 covers brand new coupled with M43 shovels but not even one M51 shovel in his stock!!! we checked them all one by one...nothing!!! as i'v heard they are rare to the states also!!!

Dec 23, 2014 · This is a certainly a postwar Belgian army shovel cover made for the M1943 shovels that the Belgians "inherited." This carrier originally had a belt loop on the rear, and a small buckle for attachment to the Belgian version of the 1937 pattern small pack.

Mar 5, 2017 · That M43 shovel will not fit in that M43 style cover, me thinks. Won't close. You need a T-handle shovel cover for the M43 shovel.

Jan 5, 2014 · The shovel has at least two coats of OD paint and the metal is very hard (has gotten whacked on asphalt and concrete without bending/denting). So, is this some strange variant of a legit M1943 entrenching tool or an artful fake?
