The 8-inch Howitzer Motor Carriage M43 was an American self-propelled artillery vehicle built on a widened and lengthened medium tank M4A3 chassis, but with a Continental engine and HVSS that was introduced at the end of World War II.

The M43 was identical to the M40 with the 155mm gun being replaced by the 8in Howitzer. Only 48 were built including 24 converted M40s. It came too late to see action in World War Two but was used extensively during the Korean War.
