Jun 25, 2015 · Yes, you would have to mill and drill the lower to install the GI auto sear, but the gun can sometimes be made to fire full auto without the sear using ALL of the other M16 parts and soft primer ammo. If it fires more than once, you have a machinegun.

I am a FFL 07 SOT, which means that I can sell regular weapons like other FFL's, and I can build semi auto weapon, and Full Auto weapons, and sell them. I sell the M16 lower parts kits for $80. each These are the rules, not according to me, in my own words, these are the last time I checked.

There is some question about this, and I would certainly look at clarification from a real authority, but with some calibers (9mm and 45 at least) this isn t necessarily true. Certainly .223 it is true. Not sure about 7.62 x 39.

Feb 2, 2010 · The bottom portion of the auto sear catches and holds the hook on the hammer until the bolt just closes. At that point the sear trip (or the portion of the M16 bolt carrier in a 5.56 rifle) pushes forward on the top of the auto sear which pivots the bottom portion of the auto sear away from the hammer hook and allows the hammer to fall.
