Microsoft 365 includes Lync , which lets you have instant messaging (IM), audio and video conversations, and Lync Meetings. To download Lync, sign in to Microsoft 365, then at the top of the page, click Settings > Office 365 settings > Software > Lync. With Lync you can:

Sign in to Lync for the first time. On the computer or device that you installed Lync on, click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Lync, and then click Lync 2013. Enter your Microsoft 365 password, and then click Sign in.

Use it to set up audio and video devices and to change things, like your picture and phone numbers that display with your contact information, how and when you’re alerted to new instant messages, how messages display (with or without emoticons, for example), and your status settings. Open Lync.

You can even join a Lync Meeting right from the Meetings tab, if the meeting was set up by an organizer inside your company. In the Lync main window, click the Meetings tab, and then right click a Lync Meeting to join.

If Lync 2013 is configured to automatically sign in when started, then starting Lync 2013 with command-line parameters will open the Lync main window. If Lync is not configured to automatically sign in when started, the sign-in window opens.
