In the grounds is a large deer park with a resident herd of deer, the remains of a Roman encampment with a temple and bathhouse, and a Norman castle motte, while inside the house is a fascinating museum.

One of the best displays of rhododendrons & azaleas we have seen anywhere. We were also able to see the large herd of deer on our way in & visited the ruins of the Roman Temple & Bath House, quite a steep climb but worth it for the views.
