Mar 4, 2025 · Anybody using this yet? I bought a couple spools to go on some new spinning setups. When I was spooling the last rod, the line broke about 20 yards in. Both sides were severely frayed. I want to believe it rubbed against something in the garage while spooling and that's why it tore.

Feb 23, 2025 · With a clearance Vengence 76H you can have yourself a sub $60 big bait combo. I was using mine as a deep crankbait rod for a 2 oz 25 footer but have switched it up to braid and beast hook paddle tails later in the year. It has a tip and 1st 1/3 of the rod like my XH Veritas winch but is WAY more stiff in the backbone.

Feb 20, 2025 · Local small tackle shop had it in stock so I was able to take my rod in and try it on. Being an older rod the slighter heavier Nasci balanced out nicely on it to me vs the super light reel options of today (7.2oz Nasci is still quite light compared to the 500 or 1000 reels from this rods vintage) So for the price I figured it was worth a try.

Jul 8, 2009 · I've had success out of the HG40s and the XP3s both. They use a multimodulus layup to create a lightweight and durable rod. Are they high end? No. But IMO you could spend that same amount of money in worse places pretty easily. I know Swampland Tackle ran out of the Big Show blanks pretty fast. Proved popular among custom builders.

Mar 1, 2019 · My experience with Loomis rods and the 853C in general are that the 853 does fish weightless senkos well, but you are on the upper end of weight at around 3/8oz for the 853. Can probably get away with fishing up to 1/2oz but I don't find it enjoyable on this particular rod. I would try to find a 4 power rod that met my specs.
