Our Project - Loving Day
Loving Day was partly inspired by Juneteenth (June 19th), which celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. A deeply meaningful tradition that has been observed since 1866 by millions of people, it was made a federal holiday in the United States on June 17, 2021.

Loving Day has been officially recognized by governments, cultural, and educational institutions including the U.S. House of Representatives, the state of Virginia, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, the California State Assembly, the city of Los Angeles, and the Anti-Defamation League.

Jun 8, 2024 · Loving Day is a secular holiday celebrated on June 12 to commemorate the 1967 Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia which legalized interracial marriage in the United States. The unanimous ruling struck down anti-miscegenation laws in 16 states that had previously prohibited interracial marriage.
