Another way for the TVA to say, “You are who WE say you are.” Plus, the way Renslayer said “Laufeyson” irritated me. Something about the way she pronounces it sounds wrong.

May 29, 2024 · To explain: In Loki S1 E1, we see Loki's TVA arrest paperwork. His full name is given as "Loki Laufeyson," with "Loki Odinson" mentioned as an alias. It makes sense to list "Laufeyson" first (especially since this Loki, just plucked from 2012, had not yet reconciled with his adoptive family).

Well in myth Loki is Odins adoptive brother (i think), but in GoW terms, Loki is the adoptive son of Odin and adoptive brother to Thor. But he is biologically Laufey and Farbautis son with Farbauti being Kratos which would make him Laufeyson by mythology.

In addition the show strips away pretty much everything that Loki is familiar with and accustomed to. If I understood it correctly, this series explores Loki and what he is like at heart / under different circumstances.

In Norse myth, Laufey is Loki's mother, while Farbauti is his father's name. Farbauti disowned Loki for some reason, so he carried his mother's name, and was called Laufeyson. It is possible Thor's creators missed this detail, and that's why the gender switch happened.
