I have found that using loctite sparingly provides the best results with the least mess and peripheral contamination. I do not use Loctite as any type of a bedding compound, like some people do.

May 4, 2020 · Loctite won't hurt anything but depending on the heat buildup you get it may not help either. Blue low strength loctite softens at under 200 deg F so if this is a rifle can its a good chance it won't help. Red loctite softens at 400 deg plus and will be pretty tough to get loose if you need to later. Frank

Oct 3, 2013 · Thanks for the info. Having no experience what so ever in this area, this has turned into an interesting paradox for me. STI included some Loctite 262 with a pistol I bought. Dawson Precision recommends it for this application. I would consider these people experts in this area. But yet, in my mind I'm thinking it may be too "permanent".
