Nov 1, 2010 · Put a 8hp kicker on a db and you have a very versatile fishing platform. You won't get anywhere fast but it will open up all kinds of fishing. I used mine out on the sound trolling for salmon, in lakes, etc. Didn't use the gas motor when drifitng rivers but did us an electric for side drifting and scooting through frog water.

One thing to bear in mind is that any screw or fastener you put into the wood is an entry point for water, which can then cause rot. There are ways to reduce this by sealing the fastener, but wherever possible, just use the fasteners to hold parts while the adhesive/glue sets up, then remove the fasteners and fill the holes.
