Line A (Italian: Linea A) of the Rome Metro runs across the city from the north-west terminus of Battistini to the south-east terminus at Anagnina. Line A of the Rome Metro is the metropolitan route that serves the capital from the north-west quadrant to the south-east quadrant. Characterised by its orange colour , it provides access to some of Rome’s most important archaeological and cultural points of interest.

Metro Rome line A, stops and opening times. Of Rome ‘s three metro lines (A, B and C), line A is the one that tourists in the Eternal City will use most often. Contrary to what one would expect, line A is not the oldest metro line in Rome, however.

Line C (the green line) is the newest metro line in Rome. Its first section was inaugurated in November 2014 and currently has 22 stations from Monte Compatri/Pantano to San Giovanni. Once it’s completed there will be 30 stations in total and it will cover 25.6 km.

Line A (27 stations and 18.4 km) connects the west of Rome near the Vatican to the popular suburbs of the southeast. From the terminus of Battistini to that of Anagnina, the main stops are: Ottaviano – San Pietro – Vatican Museums for Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica.
