I plan to make up a booklet with pictures of the 8N lift components and directions as to what to look for in respect to worn parts and what to do to correct without spending a bundle on new parts and to show the correct way to adjust the lift using the original type adjusting jig.

I must have been lucky - it seemed to be OK. Next ones I have done with a jig - much easier. I would lend my jig to someone if they paid shipping both ways.

To adjust the main control spring, rotate the yoke until a very slight preload is placed on the main control spring. The adjustment is correct when the main control spring can be rotated with the fingers and thumb of one hand*.
