If you guard against the swing itself, you will also negate the damage from the normally unblockable raised earth. Lexaeus will sometimes throw his axe sword into the air, then pound the ground three times, causing the earth to rise beneath you.

That being said, and I don't know if it's due to my inexperience with the game (I've only battled him two or three times yet), but Lexaeus really did have some of the hardest to dodge moves as far as bosses go. Next time I go through Riku's game I'll try to fight him more honestly, and learn a bit about his patterns.

Dec 2, 2008 · Dueling is the way to go, definitely, especially in D Mode. And there's a trick: After a duel Lexaeus very often (not always, but near enough) plays a nine card, so as the last duel sleight is winding down, cycle to a nine card to start it all again when he makes his move.

When you equip the Lexaeus card, the third blow of Riku's normal combo has a chance of instantly killing an enemy reguardless of their health ( it doesn't work with bosses though). You'll know it works when the enemy gets sucked into black portal. It doesn't always work but it's very handy when you're up against Defenders and Neoshadows.
