Prior to joining Transmission Ministry Collective, Leo Seyij served as a congregational minister for two Atlanta-based churches. He also worked with organizers across the southeast to lead campaigns on closing immigrant detention camps, ending racial trauma, and amplifying LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Leo Seyij Allen is a Strategist and Faith-based Organizer working within progressive movements to advance gender, sexuality, and anti-carceral justice, particularly across the U.S. South.

Apr 11, 2024 · Rev. Leo Seyij is the Activist Pastor in Residence at Park Avenue Baptist Church (PABC), a “multi-racial inclusive congregation” in Grant Park. He’s worked on issues ranging from the “Stop Cop City” movement to immigrant detention to LGBTQ+ justice.

Aug 13, 2022 · Leo Seyij is the Public Historian for the LGBTQ Religious Archives Network and serves on the board of Transmission Ministry Collective. They are currently finishing graduate studies at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.

As Black faith leaders in Georgia, we stand with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the Black Church prophetic tradition. In that tradition, we claim that it is impossible to speak about God and remain silent about the current terror and injustice in Gaza. Mar 27, 2023 · Reverend Leo Seyij Allen, a transgender Baptist minister, understands firsthand what it’s like to experience suicidal ideation. Allen says when he was a teenager, he struggled with his identity, and with the support of his chosen family, he made it through.

Leo Seyij is currently the Georgia Director for Faith in Public Life. He is an alumnus of Howard University and 2023 graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary.
