Optimum orientation should be determined by the primary expected teaching style, the capacity of the room and the level of mediation. Throughout this document there are specific design criteria which adds to what is currently outlined in these classroom design standards.
Classrooms designed for more than 75 students are considered lecture halls. Separate sections of guidelines have been prepared for each type of classroom; however, the lines between them are not absolute and require some interpretation based on individual facilities and applications.
Ceilings in lecture halls should be at least 9 feet high at the rear, and the ceiling height at the front of the room must accommodate the appropriate screen size.
