Dec 29, 2009 · Well the main reason Hold Person is unlikely to work is that Lavok is a mage, which means he has a good save vs spells, the save that Hold Person works off of. Breach and Dispel are the two main spells that can help you out. IIRC, spell protections don't stop a Breach in the vanilla game, so you should always be able to hit him with it.

Up on the platform is Lavok himself. Take him down, and the force that possessed him will vanish. He will then tell you that you that you must go out into the Abyss and gather the heart of a Demon to power the sphere and enable it to travel back to Athkatla. Once you have brought the Planar Sphere back to Athkatla, go back here and speak to Lavok.
