Mar 17, 2023 · In my experience the #1 way to prevent bubbles in your lava is to ensure that your coil (or mesh) is completely bonded with the lava - no surface area open to the liquid. This is what lets the liquid in, and makes the bubbles. I sometimes have to (very carefully) spin my globes when they are hot, to scoot the lava back onto the exposed spot.

May 4, 2011 · Hi, about the "Bubbly Wax" issue in the "Lava Library": The wax gets bubbly only when the lamp runs. When the lamp is cooled down, there are no bubbles. I think it depends on the pressure in the globe when the lamp is running. The wax expands when the lamp is turned on, so the pressure in the globe will rise.

Jun 1, 2010 · I put the lamp on the plate and brought the water to a full boil. I let the water boil for about 10 minutes. I made sure that the wax was 100% liquid and waited until I could see the bubbles rising to the top. I did not let the lava boil though. Then I let the lamp completely cool and drained the liquid that settled on top of the wax.

Nov 22, 2012 · last i checked, the lamp in the photo above still has bubbles in the wax. you aren't alone at all! many people report bubbles in the wax of their lava lite lamps. some have them, some don't. one theory is that they are caused when the wax isn't hot enough. to test this, i tried a 60w bulb on a dimmer in place of the 40w.

May 4, 2011 · The bubbles in the wax are from the water, not air. Melted wax doesn't hold air because the air is much less dense than either water or wax. On occasion air will become trapped in the wax at the top of the globe when the lamp is off and cooling, but as soon as the wax melts enough the air bubble will SHOOT to the top.

Jul 15, 2011 · I think this is quite common with lamps made around this time and generality with any Lava Lite lamp (even USA ones), I have a china lamp made around this time and its doing the same thing so it probably something to do with the formula. May 4, 2011 · I’ve been working on 5 lava lamps; neon orange, red, purple, tangerine and green. The purple is a nineties lamp/wax and the others are all 60’s and 70’s lamps. I’ve now changed the solution between four and five times for each lamp for a number of reasons; to many bubbles, foggy water, and sticky wax (attached to glass).

Mar 7, 2016 · Hi guys! I am having a small problem with my lamp. This is my first one so I don't know if this is just the way this lamp is or if I'm doing something wrong. The wax in my lamp rises in small bubbles, about 1-2 inches in diameter and then mostly just stays at the top. So it looks like this: About 4/5ths of the wax is at the top of the lamp like ...

Oct 28, 2017 · NEVER USE SALT This seems to be a little bit of a touchy subject in the lava lamp community. A lot of people believe Epsom salts is exactly what you want to put into a lava lamp but that could not be less true. Salt is corrosive. Look at the underside of a car that is driven in a place where they salt the roads to keep the ice off.

Apr 5, 2010 · Anyway, the bulb blew out so I got a new one and it was sold as a lava lite/lamp whatever light bulb and it turns on, gets hot, does the initial run up to the top, and then when it is all heated it doesn't flow, just sits and churns at the bottom.
