The LAV-C2 is an all-terrain, all-weather vehicle with night capabilities. The LAV-CC is a Type I raised roof chassis outfitted with communication stations that allows the Unit Commander the capability to command, control and communicate (C3) the activities of his forces under full armored protection.

The LAV-C2 is used as a mobile armored Battalion level command post to maintain communications with the troops on the battlefield. The C2 contains a multitude of communications equipment such as the SINCGARS AN/VRC-92, VHF/UHF AN/VRC-83(V)2, UHF PLRS, HF AN/GRC-213 and AN/PRC-68.
