Born in Philadelphia in 1947, John Laub studied at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy, the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the San Francisco School of Art and the Philadelphia College of Art, where he received a degree in graphic design.

Representational artist John Laub was known for his dynamic landscapes, streetscapes, and figurative work. Primarily painting en plein air, Laub would bring his large, rolled canvases and artist tools whenever the scenery called him, whether it be Fire Island, New York; Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; or New York’s Adirondack Mountains.

Born in Philadelphia and trained both there and in New York, Laub moved permanently to New York in 1984.
