Jan 13, 2004 · Laser 28''s are easy to tow being 4100 lbs vs the J-30''s 7500, and the Laser is a legal width as well. In a breeze the Laser takes a bit more skill and an understanding how to ''shift gears'' but the nice thing is that all of the tools are there to do so quickly on the fly.
Anyone using a laser range finder while anchoring?

Afterwards, it occurred to me that one of those hand held laser range finders that hunters use might have been handy so when I anchor, I could annoy my new neighbors equally, instead of just one or two.

At part throttle the smaller 2 cycle with carburetor uses twice as much fuel per horsepower than at wide open throttle, very inefficient. I have a 17 foot dinghy with a 1.2 HP outboard and plastic prop.

Something to consider is that the Pico and Bravo are vastly different boats. A bravo uses a single main without a boom that has 89 square feet of sail while the Pico is a main with boom and jib with a total 67 square feet of sail.
