Henry Dortress "Dickie" Marrow Jr. (January 7, 1947 – May 12, 1970) was an African-American veteran of the Army and known for being shot and killed by whites in a racial confrontation in Oxford, North Carolina, at the age of 23.

Jan 25, 2023 · Marrow was still conscious when Oakley, Robert, and Larry Teel approached him and started to beat him, calling him racial slurs. One of the Teel brothers then shot Marrow in the head with his rifle. Marrow later died on his way to Duke University Medical Center.

Aug 3, 2006 · Marrow -- a veteran who had served in Vietnam -- walked into a store owned by Teel to buy a drink. Teel reportedly had a criminal record and connections to the Ku Klux Klan.

Robert Larry Teel, the "murderer" to whose wife those "alleged flirtatious remarks" were made, feels bad, not good. The review in that other political correctness bastion that covered the Duke lacrosse case disgracefully, The New York Times probably made Teel feel worse.

On May 11, 1970, Henry Marrow, a 23-year-old African American Vietnam veteran, was murdered in Oxford. Marrow was approaching Robert Teel’s store to buy a Coca-Cola when he spoke to a young white woman.

Henry “Dickie” Marrow, a 23-year-old U.S. Army veteran whose wife was pregnant with their third daughter, had been beaten down and shot to death in the street by these three men, for allegedly making a remark to Larry Teel’s wife.

A black man in a largely segregated community, Marrow was beaten and shot by whites outside a local store. The white proprietor and one of his sons were brought to trial on a charge of murder.
