Lamia (/ ˈleɪmiə /; Ancient Greek: Λάμια, romanized: Lámia), in ancient Greek mythology, was a child-eating monster and, in later tradition, was regarded as a type of night-haunting spirit or "daimon". In the earliest myths, Lamia was a beautiful queen of ancient Libya who had an affair with Zeus and gave birth to his children.

Lamias come in two varieties in DnD. Common lamias have the lion-centaur look shown above, noble lamias have the snake tail. Noble Lamias didn't make it into the 5e books for whatever reason. Probably because there was no need for a stronger variant of this monster. If you're desperate for a snake like lamia you can look for a 3e to 5e conversion.
