The 75mm, 15-ton Jagdpanzer 38 (t), or Hetzer, was issued to tank-hunter units beginning in July 1944. The Germans were determined to retain at least the chassis, and a light reconnaissance vehicle was produced, but this model was discontinued in 1943 after only 70 were made.
