Champagne is a Hybrid releases from the Louisiana State University agricultural program. It is a cross between 'Celeste' and C1 which is a Capri fig from California. It has small fruit with yellow to green skin and golden flesh. Champagne has a slightly rounded end that tapers towards the stem and a short neck.

The renewing of the fig research in the 1990s led to several new releases which included LSU Champagne, LSU Gold, LSU Purple, LSU O'Rourke, LSU Tiger, and LSU Scott's Black varieties. All of the varieties developed by the LSU fig breeding program over the years are hybrids.

A high quality, very sweet honey fig, yellow in color and small size with amber/pinkish flesh. Excellent sweet flavor. Very productive and reliable even in hot, humid, wet climates.
