My LEGO version of the Pennsylvania Railroad Q2 Class duplex steam engine with its coast-to-coast tender. The Q2 class was a serie of duplex locomotives with 4-4-6-4 wheel arrangement built during WW2 for the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Nov 27, 2018 · Obviously the Q2 is a big locomotive with a big tender and the duplexes were rigid frame locomotives. I'm interested in seeing how you went about solving the "articulation" problem. I'm also curious about what part you used for the headlight, that looks pretty nice.

Apr 19, 2023 · This is a working, running (albeit only on R104 curves) 1:48 scale model of the Pennsylvania Railroad Q2 duplex. PF or PU motors power all five driving axles, and the design uses no third party parts besides #11 drivers.

At 115,800 lbs of tractive effort and nearly 8,000 horsepower, the Q2s were the most powerful ten-coupled steam locomotives ever produced. These monsters were the greyhounds of the PRR, single-handedly hauling tonnage at high speeds over the PRR's lines.
