The V-150 was a hybrid variant which actually came after the V-200 and was based on the V-200 but had some V-100 features. It could be equipped with diesel or gasoline engines and most were produced for the Saudi Arabian National Guard as the V-150S .

In 1994, Cadillac Gage Textron became part of Textron Marine & Land Systems and the V-150 series was renamed the LAV-150 family. In the following description and variants, the current LAV-150 designation is used.

The V-150 proved to be the most successful version of the Commando series of armored cars. At least two thirds of the nearly 3.500 vehicles are of the V-150 type. This was produced in about 15 variant with further options such as engine type differing per client.
