The SA80 (Small Arms for the 1980s) is a British family of 5.56×45mm NATO service weapons used by the British Army. [4] . The L85 Rifle variant has been the standard issue service rifle of the British Armed Forces since 1987, replacing the L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle.

Sep 22, 2019 · Recently I purchased what was a Savage No4Mk1* 303 Enfield. However I now find that it had been re barrelled to the Nato 7.62 (308) and if what research I can find it would now be a L8A5 designation. These conversions where done in the 60's. Enfield did some and Stirling did some also.
