The AFM activation and deactivation is controlled by the Valve Lifter Oil Manifold or VLOM. The VLOM consists of 4 electronically operated solenoids and is bolted to the top of the engine block beneath the intake manifold assembly.

If there is oil in the dirty air side of the PCV system, replace the LOMA (VLOM) on 5.3L (L83) and 6.2L (L86) only. (4.3L (LV3) uses a different VLOM and PCV set up). There will be oil dripping out of the PCV tube in side of the intake manifold.

AFM lifters fail when feed oil to the lifter is low or mistimed. GM has released an updated VLOM (Valve Lifter Oil Manifold) # 12571609 to help address this problem. Install new VLOM is highly recommended.

This VLOM was removed from a brand new vehicle with less than 5 miles which had performance modifications added. As a result, it no longer needed the OEM Factory parts. Parts are in LIKE NEW condition with minimal evidence of use.

This service kit comes with the needed valve cover and VLOM gasket for the job. It also includes the fuel lines and injector seal kit. Don't forget to consider Upgrading your Pushrods.
