L64/65. During the 1970s, Enfield engineers designed an assault rifle to replace the L1A1 in the Bullpup configuration but chambered in the .190 calibre (4.85 mm). This rifle actually had better range and ballistics than the 5.56x45mm NATO although it retained the same cartridge but necked-down for the then new calibre.
