May 22, 2020 · I had to go to Kumon as a child, and that face is definitely spot on for what the kids there (and I) actually looked like while doing a sh*t ton of math work. I would think that would be bad for marketing, but the kind of parent who puts their kid in Kumon is likely to take the non-smiling face as a good sign rather than a bad sign.

Apr 27, 2018 · LOL. When I was a kid, I actually asked the supervisor of the Kumon branch why their new logo looks sad. They said that the face was thinking. I hated Kumon to its very core. I remember my parents would borrow the answer books to check my answers but I would just find them and fill out the answers.

Feb 28, 2024 · It's bitter work but for specific problems it helps. If it wasn't for Kumon I would never have memorized my addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication facts. I was still computing on my fingers by 10. Kumon is great for lower math skills, establishing the basics, but they're upper level map curriculum is extremely lackluster.

He got the expected reaction fro his classmates, predominately Asians: booing, laughing, jeering, etc. PS My kid doesn't do Kumon. I convinced my wife (heli-mom) to NOT go thru Kumon.

I went to Kumon as a student when it was first starting up (pre this logo) and I have to say, this was always my face when walking in. When they updated the logo to this one, I laughed my ass off at how appropriate it seemed.

May 10, 2022 · Kumon English involves doing lots of daily homework sheets that seem to lead nowhere. You mainly read short Kumon passages and fill in the spaces from a word list. There’s no teaching involved, just homework that the parent marks with an answer sheet. The sheets are very boring for him and impart no actual facts or knowledge.

Feb 5, 2021 · when children display a desire for learning this way, and when developmentally ready, I introduce early kumon books, as a former ECE teacher moved to nanny. I'm talking mazes, connect the dots, and letter/number tracing.

Jul 27, 2023 · This horrid memory was revamped with my mother buying updated Kumon books with a new logo where the ‘O’ looks like depressed emoji for my now 9 year old… (haha) Any old memories or links to the older 90’s style Kumon would be so appreciated!!
