Hits are a measure of visibility, while kudos are a measure of engagement. I value the latter far more (though the hits–kudos ratio can be useful in the first week or so after posting a oneshot or the first chapter of a fic) because they indicate someone actually liked the story.

May 6, 2022 · Ultimately what it's doing is clicking into the fic, looking at the kudos'd list and if your name is there, logging that. BUT the kudos list doesn't show all the names! It'll have like a certain amount and then you have to click to show the rest.
